There’s More to Optical Magnification than Meets the Eye.
Why magnification alone is not the deciding factor: a manufacturer’s guide to the fundamentals of custom-built loupes and the interplay of their optical properties.

Historical context: This older guide by Peter J. Murphy is a manufacturer’s document, not a current independent scientific review. Statements on competitors, ergonomics and care should be read in their original context. Current instructions for use apply to today’s products.
Compare manufacturer specifications correctly.
Classic-EF and MicroEF are different optical variants. For example, at 4.5×, the product brochure lists Ø 5.0 cm for MicroEF and Ø 5.5 cm for Classic-EF. Some Panoramic specifications give width and height rather than a circular diameter. Viewable area and field diameter are not the same.
The tabulated values are manufacturer reference values. The brochure does not consistently specify a common reference working distance. Your individual measurements, prescription correction and configuration determine the final specification; these documents do not replace a personal consultation.
The product brochure and the fundamentals guide are provided as the manufacturer’s English originals. The 45-day trial offer in the product brochure is the manufacturer’s offer; Visiomedical trial conditions are agreed separately. Both documents cover loupe optics and optical fundamentals, not REVEAL FC fluorescence technology. Learn more about REVEAL FC ↗
